Heart To Heart Shanghai

Established in June 2004 as a non-profit volunteer community outreach group, Heart to Heart Shanghai's mission is to help impoverished Chinese children who require heart surgery to correct congenital heart defects

Each surgery costs an average of RMB25,000, approximately USD $3,200. The average rural family has about $260 of disposable income a year, $75 of which, goes for education. Surgical funds are raised through the sale of Heart Bears and through the generous donations from supporters in China and overseas.

As a volunteer organization, Heart To Heart Shanghai has minimum overhead and all donated and raised money is allocated to rural children whose families do not have the financial means to undertake this life saving surgery. Payment for the child's medical bill is made directly to the hospital and no commissions are paid.
